The SEN Studio

Every child has
a creative voice.
We help them find it.

Specialist art education for ADHD, Autism Spectrum Condition, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Speech & Hearing differences, and Sensory Processing needs. Not accommodation. Not modification. Specialist teaching at the highest level.

💛
We don't modify the art - we modify the teaching. Every session is built around your child's individual profile, strengths, and sensory needs.
"
Art is not a subject that requires a certain kind of brain. It is a language - and every brain has something to say. My job is to learn how your child's mind works, and then build the bridge between that mind and the canvas.
- Femi Kayode · MFA · Head of Humanities · SEN Specialist

Our Approach

Not accommodation.
Specialist teaching.

There's a difference between making allowances for a student and designing education around them. BravArt SEN Studio does the latter - every session built from scratch around the individual.

🧩
Adaptive Pedagogy
Every lesson plan is built around the individual learner's needs, strengths and sensory profile - before the session begins. No generic plans. No one-size-fits-all approaches.
Flexible pacing Individual learning plans Strength-led teaching
🎨
Multi-Sensory Methods
Tactile, visual and auditory approaches woven together so every learning style is honoured. From textured materials for sensory exploration to visual schedules for structure - the medium serves the learner.

💬
Confidence First
Technical outcomes come second - always. Before we teach proportion or composition, we build the belief that this space is safe, mistakes are welcome, and creativity belongs to this child. Without that foundation, nothing else works.
No-pressure environment Celebrate process Mistakes as learning
📋
Parent Partnership
Regular detailed progress reports written for parents and support teams. Clear milestones, honest observations, and practical guidance for continuing creative development at home. You are part of the process.

🌱
Long-term Thinking
SEN art education isn't a quick fix. The most profound transformations come from sustained, trusting relationships - which is why BravArt SEN students are welcomed for the long term, months or even years.
Long-term programmes Relationship-based No pressure to rush
🏫
Curriculum Alignment
For students working toward qualifications - IGCSE, WASSCE or GCE - the SEN Studio provides fully curriculum-aligned support. Art and Design is a qualification where differentiated, personalised teaching directly translates to improved outcomes.

A Story of Growth

Two years.
One student.
A lifetime of making.

She came to the studio with no previous art experience. She had special educational needs that made traditional classroom learning difficult - and had been made to feel, more than once, that creative subjects were not for her.

Two years later, she has independently completed multiple professional-quality projects: direct acrylic painting on canvas, designed shirts, tie-dye, batik, bleaching technique, beadwork and basic weaving.

She did not become an artist because she was pushed. She became an artist because she was given the time, the space, the patience, and the belief that she could.

★★★★★
"My daughter has special needs and I was worried no art teacher would have the patience. BravArt Studio has been working with her for two years - she now completes her own projects independently. It has changed her confidence completely."

What to Expect

Your child's first
SEN Studio session.

01
We Listen First
Before any art is made, we listen. You tell us about your child - their needs, their interests, what has and hasn't worked before. This is not a tick-box form. It is a conversation.
02
We Build Their Profile
From that conversation, we build an individual learning profile - sensory preferences, communication style, processing pace, interest areas. This becomes the foundation of every session.
03
We Start Gently
The first sessions are about building trust and comfort. No pressure, no performance. We find what lights up your child's imagination and we start there.
04
We Report Back
After each session you receive notes. Monthly, you receive a detailed progress report. You always know what is happening and why.
05
We Watch Them Grow
This is the part we love most. The moment a child who was told they could not do art picks up a brush and proves everyone wrong.

Questions from Parents

Things parents
always ask us

My child has never done art before. Is that a problem?
Not at all. In fact, students who arrive with no previous art experience often make the most remarkable progress - because they have no bad habits to undo and no fear of doing it "wrong."
My child's school has an art teacher. Why do they need specialist support?
A classroom teacher works with 25–30 students. A BravArt SEN session is 1:1, designed around your child specifically. The difference in outcomes is significant.
How do you handle meltdowns or sensory overload?
We plan for them. Session plans include sensory de-escalation strategies, clear transition cues, and always a calm option if the planned activity becomes too much. The session adapts to the student - not the other way around.
Can my child work toward IGCSE or other qualifications?
Absolutely. The SEN Exam Pathway is specifically designed for students with additional needs who are preparing for IGCSE 0400, WASSCE or GCE. Every accommodation and differentiation strategy is built into the programme from day one.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes. Online SEN sessions are available and can be highly effective. We discuss the best format for each student individually - some students thrive online, others benefit more from in-person sessions in Lagos.
What if my child's needs are complex or multiple?
Please reach out and tell us about your child. We assess every case individually. We have worked with students with multiple co-occurring needs, and in every case, the approach is built from scratch around them.
