My Journey
My Journey
My path as both an artist and teacher began with a challenge. During my undergraduate studies in Fine and Applied Art, I started from a place of self-doubt, having to teach myself core skills like figure drawing and portraiture from the ground up. Through relentless practice and dedication, I transformed my journey, rising from one of the lowest positions in my class to graduating with the second-highest GPA in my year. This experience taught me the transformative power of focused guidance and personal perseverance.
That drive propelled me further to earn a Master’s degree in Printmaking, deepening my studio practice and artistic voice. I understand firsthand the frustration of a rough start and the breakthrough that comes with the right support. Now, I am determined to provide that same guidance to young artists, whether they are struggling to begin or striving to refine their skills to an exceptional level.
I am deeply passionate about the IGCSE Art & Design curriculum because it does more than teach technique; it cultivates thinkers and researchers. The Cambridge framework encourages self-directed study, critical inquiry, and personal expression, building an impeccable foundation for any artistic future.
My mission is to bridge the gap between this excellent curriculum and the students’ confidence. I provide the structured guidance, technical insight, and motivational support that turns syllabus requirements into a portfolio of personal achievement. I guide students not just to pass an exam, but to build artistic habits that last a lifetime.
My Teaching Phylosophy
I believe that exceptional art education sits at the intersection of disciplined skill and liberated expression. My approach is built on a few core principles:
Confidence is the First Canvas. Technical skill flourishes when a student feels secure. I create an environment where experimentation is encouraged, and "mistakes" are valued as essential steps in the learning process.
Structure Fuels Creativity. By providing a clear, syllabus-informed framework for research, development, and refinement, I give students the foundation they need to explore their unique ideas with purpose and direction.
The Process is the Prize. While achieving top grades is a shared goal, the true value lies in the journey. I focus on building lifelong skills: critical thinking, iterative development, visual research, and resilient problem-solving.
Guidance Over Direction. I act as a mentor and expert guide. My role is to equip you with knowledge, demonstrate techniques, and provide insightful feedback that empowers you to make your own creative decisions.
My effectiveness as an educator is defined by a dual commitment: mastering contemporary creative tools and championing inclusive, adaptive teaching.
Technical & Digital Proficiency: My professional practice and teaching extend beyond traditional media to include digital illustration, hybrid teaching, and digital portfolio development. I equip students with the skills relevant to both academic success and the modern creative world.
Inclusive Practice for Diverse Learners: I have significant experience and a deep commitment to teaching students with diverse learning needs, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). My approach is student-centred and adaptable, focusing on multi-sensory instruction, clear structured routines, and breaking down complex concepts into achievable steps. I believe every student has a unique creative voice, and my role is to provide the tailored support that allows that voice to emerge with confidence.
